Sozopol Foundation started the development of the Project: “Chiprovian carpets, world cultural heritage – availability of generations”, under the UNESCO Program of Participation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for 2018-2019.
On November 26, 2014, during the 9th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, held at the UNESCO Headoffice in Paris, the “Traditions of making Chiprovian Carpets” feature was entered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
Here is what one of the most famous masters of making and weaving of Chiprovian carpets says: “We put a lot of love in the carpets, so when they are looked, they emit a light, a happiness. When you put them at home, they shine like the sun, because everything is from natural material. We have to keep the tradition and move it forward”.
Sozopol Foundation fully supports what this woman has said and will make efforts in its competence to observe the tradition. The Foundation will promote through all forms the “Traditions of making Chiprovian carpets” all over the world, as well as the implementation of the main priorities and visibility of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
