European Union encourages the Member States to preserve the national and regional diversity and at the same time to emphasize the common cultural heritage.

The project envisages the implementation of archaeological works, conservation, restoration, and provision of accessible environment for people with specific needs to the medieval Monastery of St. John the Precursor on St. Ivan Island. The monastery had the status of a royal and patriarchal monastery. During works performed under the project of Sozopol Foundation, part of St. John the Baptist’s relics were discovered in the monastery.
