With its simple style the church of Sts. Peter and Pavel is one of the most beautiful churches in the town of Melnik. It is located in the town center and has been declared immovable cultural value with national importance. It is the only medieval and Bulgarian National Revival church, preserved in its original architectural volume, without any recent architectural and artistic restoration. It has been functioning until the middle of XX century when it has been closed because of planned conservation and restoration work that have been started but never finished.
Archaeological research of the church of Sts. Peter and Pavel is the basis of development of an architectural project for its overall conservation, restoration, socialization and provision of access for persons with specific abilities, being one of the important holy places in Melnik, a symbol of the long history of religious wealth of the town.
