Activities of Sozopol Foundation on national level for the preparation of symbolic cultural sites for their inscription in the UNESCO World Heritage List

On May 12, 2014, Prof. D.Sc. Violeta Nesheva and Mr. Mitya Dimitrov took part in the discussion “Haskovo – new opportunities for regional tourism”.

The event that took place in the town of Haskovo and was a part of Standat Newspaper’s national campaign for safeguarding and promotion of the cultural and historic heritage “The wonders of Bulgaria 2014”.

Mr. Peter Stoyanovich, Minister of Culture, Mr. Dragomir Stoynev, Minister of Economy and Energy, and his Deputy Mr. Branimir Botev participated in the discussion.

In his statement Mr. Stoyanovich insisted on the general planning of archaeological activities and called for collaboration between the state, the municipalities and the guild.

Deputy Minister Mr. Branimir Botev welcomed the initiative of Standart Newspaper with the words; “The Wonders of Bulgaria are a showcase of our national pride, and this initiative is a wonderful opportunity to educate youth in the spirit of Bulgaria.”

During the meeting Ms. Slavka Bozukova, Chief Editor of Standart Newspaper, who initiated the campaign “The wonders of Bulgaria 2014”, highlighted that the perspectives for the sites within the national tourism routes will become international after joint tourism packages have been developed with other Balkan countries.

Prof. D.Sc. Violeta Nesheva congratulated the participants on behalf of Mr. Kiril Arnautski, Chairman of Sozopol Foundation. She highlighted the role of the nongovernmental sector in the partnership for preparation of documents for application of Bulgaria’s symbolic cultural values for their entry in World Heritage List of UNESCO.
