Sozopol Foundation organizes international forum under the auspices of UNESCO in Bulgaria


Sozopol Foundation is actively preparing the Third Forum of NGOs, official partners of UNESCO, on topic “Role of youth in the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage”, which will be held under the patronage of the President of Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture and the Mayor of Sozopol. The Forum will be officially opened on September 27th in Sofia, in the presence of high-standing guests from UNESCO and Bulgaria. Video message to the participants is expected to be made by the Director-General of the global Organisation Ms. Irina Bokova.

The guests will see the permanent exhibition ‘The cultural heritage of Bulgaria – Past, Present and Future’, located in National Palace of Culture and will enjoy the performance of Bistritsa Babi, who are inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.

From September 28th to October 1st, in Duni Royal Resort near Sozopol, over 70 representatives of international non-governmental organizations from different regions of the world will discuss the role of youth in the protection of cultural heritage and the best practices in this area. Eminent professors from Estonia, Afghanistan, Argentina and Bulgaria will make key reports and project presentations.

During the forum guests will see the old town of Plovdiv and will visit created by Sozopol Foundation Architectural and Historic Complex with museum exhibition Southern Fortress Wall and Tower in the old town of Sozopol.

The main preparation and operational work on the organization of the Third Forum of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), official partners of UNESCO, is carried out by the Chairman of the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, Mr. Patrick Gallaud, and Chairman of the Board of Sozopol Foundation, Mr. Kiril Arnautski.
