This was the theme of the held on December 5, 2014 an international conference in Brussels dedicated on various aspects of accessibility to cultural heritage for people with special needs and onto implementation of the project League of historical and accessible cities, in which Sozopol is involved, represented by Sozopol Foundation. The forum was organized by the European Foundation Centre and was attended by Representatives of the European Commission, European Economic and Social Committee, European Network for Accessible Tourism of national and European foundations working in the field of rights of people with disabilities, representatives of the European municipalities and universities.
The forum was attended by Mr. Ivan Karagiozov, consultant at Sozopol Foundation on the matters concerning people with special needs and Director of the Center for Psychological Studies in Burgas. He was keynote speaker in the third thematic session dedicated to cultural heritage and accessibility to it. In his statement Mr. Karagiozov pointed out that the integration of people with specific abilities will enhance the quality of life for all by improving the educational and cultural level of the people, which will make us part of the most advanced countries in the world. He presented the project of Sozopol Foundation for achieved accessibility in one of the most unique places in Bulgaria – “Southern Fortress Wall and Tower” in Sozopol stressing that its implementation is an excellent example of combining the efforts of different partners, united about the cause that all have equal rights.
