James Brewer is one of the many foreigners who have fallen in love with the town of Sozopol, which he describes in four consecutive articles, describing different aspects of one of the oldest towns on Bulgarian lands, featured in the British online magazine www.allaboutshipping.co.uk. Mr. Brewer writes with love and admiration about the rich culture of the town, its long history and contemporary art, some of which can be seen in the museum of the Southern Fortress Wall and Tower. He highlights the fact that Sozopol is a bustling summer resort favoured by tourists from all over Europe, including the thousands of people who visit the city because of religious and cultural interest.
James and Graciete BrewerOther aspects of Mr. Brewer’s focus on Sozopol are the restoration and conservation of the Southern Fortress Wall and Tower, the discovered ancient buildings and valuable artefacts, and also the relics of John the Baptist, which has significantly revitalized the tourism in the town. Sozopol Foundation and its enterprising chairman Mr. Kiril Arnautski, who is in love with the sea, have the merit for all of this. Mr. Brewer describes the history of the Foundation, the national and international projects implemented by it, its active cooperation with local authorities and international governmental and nongovernmental organizations, aiming to raise the prestige of Sozopol and Bulgaria.
