On 12th of August 2016, in the town of Pomorie, Standart Newspaper organized a discussion following the aims and the tasks, defined by the National campaign “Miracles of Bulgaria”, for the conservation and promotion of Bulgaria’s cultural-historical heritage. The discussion was entitled “Miracles of Pomorie – new opportunities for development of the cultural and historical tourism in the region”.

Mr. Kiril Arnautski, Chairman of Sozopol Foundation and prof. Violeta Nesheva – scientific consultant of Sozopol Foundation took active participation in the discussion.
Prof. Violeta Nesheva and Mr. Arnautski during the discussion A major focus of the discussions was the condition and the fate of the Ancient tomb that is cultural value of national importance. Prof. Violeta Nesheva proposed that after an overall conservation, restoration and promotion of the Ancient tomb, it can be proposed to the Ministry of Culture for inclusion of the site in the indicative list of Bulgaria for UNESCO, as well as its subsequent application for inclusion in the World Heritage List of UNESCO.
Mr. Ivan Aleksiev, Mayor of Pomorie Municipality, shared that the municipality is preparing documents with a request for the significant site to be provided to Pomorie Municipality for operation and management.

Bojan Kuzupov has prepared project documentation entitled “Ancient tomb of Pomorie – Project for conservation and restoration of the front part”, through an assigning by the Pomorie Municipality. Partial conservation and restoration activities has been performed in 2013, under the methodological guidance of Arch. Bojan Kuzupov, a longtime investigator of the Ancient tomb.

The cultural-historic tourism in the region has a great potential and gives new opportunities for regional development. The future development of the Ancient tomb in the town is of big importance, as a part of the cultural-historic heritage. During the discussion was talked about the opportunities for its conservation under a number of European and national programs, in order to transform it into an easily accessible tourist site, attracting a growing tourist flow, and thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the city and the region.
The opportunities for SPA and balneology, which the city and the region have, the creation of a botanical garden, as well as the aims and stages of the Campaign “Miracles of Bulgaria” 2016, were also among the discussed topics.
